Hoya papaschonii is a relatively new and exciting species to the Hoya world, formally described in 2014 by Michele Rodda.
Hoya papaschonii is native to Southern Thailand, specifically discovered in the Betong District of Yala Province.
In its natural environment, it is an epiphytic shrub growing in evergreen forests. This means it grows on other plants (typically trees) rather than in the soil, benefiting from the high humidity and filtered light of the forest canopy. It's considered somewhat rare in the wild, known from only a couple of collections.
