Hoya solokensis is a relatively recently described species, making its official debut in scientific literature in 2019 (S.Rahayu & Rodda).
Hoya solokensis is native to Sumatra, which is a large island in Indonesia, part of the wet tropical biome. It grows as an epiphytic shrub in evergreen forests, much like other Hoyas that thrive in humid, tropical environments, typically found growing on trees.
